How to fix BSOD WDF_VIOLATION in Dell Wyse 5070 thin client

반응형

One of the annoying BSODs in Windows 10 is WDF_Violation.

There are various reason for them and many cases have already been fixed on the Net. The most often case is due to a keyboard driver, where you're using computers made in HP. However, another makers' PC, especially in Dell computers, other cases have been reported as well.

Today I introduce one more case of WDF_Violation and suggest the workaround based on my experience.

Recently I purchased two thin clients PC manufactured by Dell for my father and son respectively, whose model names are Dell Wyse 5070. Right after finishing installation of Windows 10 operating system, the same BSOD happened in both computers and I had to struggle for solving it as in the following.

Problem:

Everytime PC is booted or re-booted, a specific blue screen(BSOD) is displayed, showing the error code, WDF_VIOLATION.

How to fix:

1) Update BIOS with the updated version

➔ Of course, BIOS update is necessary regardless of this problem. Anyway it didn't work.

2) Do windows update

➔ Some people said the problem disappeared after they have done 'windows update' with the lastest ones. But it didn't, neither.

3) Update the lastest Cypress USB driver linked below, where the reason is due to CyUcmClient.sys

➔ For the first time, there's no indication which drivers or files brought up this BSOD. However, as the BSOD repeated several times, I could see one more line under the error code, which was 'CyUcmClient.sys'. I managed to find the proper driver's location in Dell site.

➔ When you execute the new driver installer on the link mentioned above, you may see the BSOD one more time. But don't worry. You won't meet the BSOD anymore, then.

I hope my experience will help someone who is suffered from the similar issue.
